Eric Kessler4th GradeLoyola University Chicago - M.Ed. Elementary Education, ESL Endorsement
University of Wisconsin - Parkside - B.A. Sociology / Criminal Justice I'm excited to start my first year at Bateman! I am a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago's teacher preparation program, earning my Masters of Elementary Education and my English Language Learners endorsement. I completed my student teaching in a third-grade class at Swift Elementary in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. There were over a dozen languages represented in my classroom! My favorite areas that we studies were narrative nonfiction, persuasive writing, and story problems! During my time in grad school, I also observed instruction in several schools throughout Chicago, which ranged from kindergarten through high school. I got my start in education several years ago when I started working in a before and after school program. I soon became a supervisor. Shortly after that, I took a position teaching English as a foreign language in South Korea. During these two years, I gained worldly experience and an appreciation for working cross-culturally. When I came back to the U.S., I served in AmeriCorps for two years, where I tutored students who were learning English as a new language; I taught adult English as a Second Language (ESL); and I taught U.S. Citizenship. I currently live in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, playing my guitar, drawing and painting, spending time with friends, and exploring all that Chicago has to offer. I had a lot of great traveling experience when i lived in Korea, and I hope to continue traveling and learning about the world! |
