A Bit About Me...
Welcome! Hello and welcome! My name is Mrs. Carey, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the vibrant community at Bateman Elementary School. This is my fourth year at Bateman, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey with our incredible students and families.
A little about me: I’m a proud Chicago native, born and raised just a few blocks away in Lincoln Square, where I still live today. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University in 2005, and later completed my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Concordia University in 2008.
With over 21 years of teaching experience, ranging from Kindergarten through high school, I bring a broad perspective to the classroom. This background allows me to meet students where they are and challenge them to grow, explore, and achieve their full potential.
Outside the classroom, I’m a proud mom to my energetic two-and-a-half-year-old son, August. I enjoy spending my free time walking, cooking, creating art, and making memories with my family.
Teaching is truly my passion. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing that spark of understanding and the pride a student feels when mastering a new skill. My goal is to inspire a love of learning in every child and to help them become confident, curious, and lifelong learners.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and am committed to ensuring every child has a successful, enriching, and joyful school experience. Let’s make this year amazing!
Warmly,
Mrs. Carey
