Melissa Kucharczyk

First Grade

Welcome families to first grade!  My name is Melissa Kucharczyk and I will be your child’s teacher this year. Since I will be spending quality time with your child, I’d like to take this opportunity to share a few things about myself.

I received my B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan in 2004, and spent a few years teaching elementary school in my home state of Michigan.  With an itch for city life, I soon moved to Chicago where I joined the educators of CPS.  In 2009 I took a hiatus from CPS and moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I taught English for 3 years and honed my Spanish language skills.  Since returning home to Chicago in 2012 I have completed my Masters in Reading and ESL/Bilingual teacher certification. In 2013 I spent time volunteer teaching  and mentoring at a boys’ shelter home in New Delhi, India.  I thrive on meeting new people, learning about diverse cultures and speaking other languages.

This is my 7th year at Bateman School and my 17th year teaching!  I could not be more enthused to be your child’s teacher during this very important year of school. It will be a very exciting year in Room 111.  My goal is to create a warm and stimulating learning environment that encourages all children to learn.  I have high expectations for my students and believe every child can succeed in school.  You will be hearing from me often because you are the most important person in your child’s life, and your support and involvement mean a great deal.

Warmly,

Melissa Kucharczyk

Estimados padres y tutores,

¡Bienvenidos a primer grado!

Atentamente,

Melissa Kucharczyk
