Our Middle School students had a blast at their Spring Dance! Kudos to the Student Council for organizing such a wonderful event. It was an amazing time!
We had the wonderful opportunity to host the Raices Gitanas performing group. This group focused on the Flamenco music and dance of the Spanish nomadic people. Our students were actively engaged. Gracias Raíces Gitanas y Ole! At the CPS Chess north-side playoffs, the Bateman Chess Team placed in the top 2 in three different sections. The 3rd/4th grade and 7th/8th grade squads both earned 2nd place, while the 5th/6th grade group took 1st overall. The team had seven different players with at least 4 points in 5 long rounds, led by the Ahmed brothers, Umair & Zubair, Luke Rosado, Andrew Tebbe, and (on his birthday) Jim Nguyen. Bateman is now qualified for the City Championships, and will field a team in 3 sections at next weekend's State Championships in Schaumburg.
Adorable presentations of Ms. Koehler's students as American Heroes. Each student made their presentation speaking as the American hero. They were charming! And the heroes are Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Jackie Kennedy, Michael Jackson and finally... George Washington!
Today, our School Principal, Ms. Davos-Vetas met with all 8th grade students to outline and thoroughly discuss the expectations that we have for them through the end of this academic year. This was to ensure the productivity and safety of our 8th grade students. Ms. Davos specifically reviewed Academic, Attendance, Promotional, and Behavioral expectations detailing what each student needs to do in order to successfully complete their 8th grade year. Our 8th graders were a wonderful Audience!
