Melanie Noonan
8th Grade ELA

Hello! I am Ms. Noonan, and I am excited to be a part of the Bateman community for my first year of teaching. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2017 with degrees in English and Education as well as an endorsement in English as a Second Language. Last year, I had the honor to do my student teaching in the 7th grade ELA classroom, and I could not imagine any other place I would want to start my life as a teacher.

I grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago with my parents and my four brothers (my youngest brother, Kevin, is in the photo on the left). Outside of school, I spend most of my time with family and friends eating, shopping, reading, or watching Cubs games.

I am excited to spend this year navigating literature with the 8th graders. Reading has always played a crucial role in my life, and I love sharing the joy with others. This year, we will learn a lot about who we are and the world around us through the eyes of our characters.

Check out G.I.R.L.S. Club!

Ms. Woods and I have started an after school program for 8th grade girls on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. G.I.R.L.S. stands for "girls in real life situations," and in the club we spend time preparing for our lives outside of Bateman. Here, we explore our values, our voices, and our futures. Email either of us for more information!
