5th Grade - Science

Welcome to 5th & 6th Grade Science, where we MATTER!  

This year we will be investigating various genres of science through  inquiry.  Our goal in science this year is to know and apply a variety of concepts, principles, and processes of scientific inquiry! We will explore the world of science through hands on labs and classroom research. 

Using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS),  we will study the following areas of science: 

5th Grade Amplify Science
Unit 1: Patterns of Earth and Sky
Unit 2: Modeling Matter
Unit 3: Earth Systems
Unit 4: Ecosystem Restoration

6th Grade Amplify Science
Unit 1: Microbiomes
Unit 2: Metabolism
Unit 3: Traits and Reproduction
Unit 4: Thermal Energy
Unit 5: Oceans, Atmosphere, and Climate
Unit 6: Weather Patterns
Unit 7: Earth's Changing Climate

Not only do I love teaching science but I love doing science in everyday life! Science is simply asking questions about the world around us. I believe that every person has a scientist inside of them wondering about the way things work.
