5th Grade - Science

Welcome to 5th Grade Science, where we MATTER!  


This year we will be investigating various genres of science through  inquiry.  Our goal in science this year is to know and apply a variety of concepts, principles, and processes of scientific inquiry! We will explore the world of science through hands on labs and classroom research.  Using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS),  we will study the following areas of science: 

• Physical Science - Mixtures and Solutions
• Earth Science - Earth and Sun
• Life Science - Living Systems

Not only do I love teaching science but I love doing science in everyday life! Science is simply asking questions about the world around us. I believe that every person has a scientist inside of them wondering about the way things work.

Originally from Michigan, I moved to Chicago in 2003, and have been teaching in Chicago Public Schools for 20 years! I love to continue my own education and am a proud graduate of:

Outside of my life at Bateman I enjoy laughs with my own family, writing, and reading with a good cup of coffee! I can be found cheering on the Blackhawks, various comedy shows around the city or snuggling my dog ferocious chihuahua!
