Second Step- School-Wide
Second Step is universal violence prevention program designed to reduce impulsive and aggressive behaviors in children and adolescents by increasing their social competency skills. Students are taught to reduce impulsive, high-risk, and aggressive behaviors and increase their social-emotional competence and other protective factors.
Our master schedule at Bateman currently includes a weekly 30-minute time frame for teachers to complete the Second Step Lessons with students from Kindergarten thru 8th grade. In addition, the Step Step Curriculum includes an Anti-Bullying Unit for students K-5th grade to teach student how to Recognize, Respond, and Report bullying behaviors.
