Sarah Hawn5th Grade Inclusion TeacherHello! Thank you for visiting my page! I am the inclusion teacher for 5th grade Math and Reading during the 2019-2020 school year. I co-teach with Ms. Arifi in ELA and Ms. Vigilante in Math. This is my fifth year at Bateman and my first year working with 5th grade. I work with two fifth grade homerooms as well as provide support to our fifth grade diverse learners. My passion is helping all learners reach their full potential. In the past, I have taught in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade as a Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher. Please feel free to contact me at smhawn@cps.edu with any questions or concerns. |
Personal Info
I attended Southeast Missouri State University and received degrees in Exceptional Child Education (Special Education) as well as Elementary Education. I was born and raised in Southern Illinois and moved to Chicago after graduation. I worked as a paraprofessional in Vernon Hills before moving to the sunny state of Arizona for a year to escape the Chicago winters. After realizing that Chicago had my heart, my husband and I moved back to Chicago and started working at Bateman. Bateman is the only school I have worked at in Chicago and I love being a part of the family and community.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, traveling, and reading. I love spending time in nature while hiking and camping. I enjoy visiting National Parks during school breaks and in the summer.
