Kindergarten

Hello!

My name is Ms. Kathleen Maxey and I am thrilled to be joining the Bateman Elementary family as part of the Kindergarten team this year! I just recently moved to Chicago from the northern Virginia area and am excited for new adventures! I am beginning my 13th year of teaching and my first year in Kindergarten. Prior to moving, I taught first grade for seven years in Richmond, Virginia and later taught third and first grade for 5 years in Arlington, Virginia.

I grew up in the Richmond, Virginia area and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Longwood University, a small teachers college in southwest Virginia. After my experiences in Virginia and the diverse range of backgrounds my students came from, I pursued my English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. 

Outside of school, I love traveling, going to the beach, cooking, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family. 

I am so excited to share my love of learning with our newest Bateman students as they enter Kindergarten. It is such a year of growth, new experiences and fun!
