Leticia CobarrubiasWorld Language¡Hola Bateman Families!
My name is Leticia Cobarrubias, and I’m thrilled to be starting my third year at Bateman! I’m so excited to keep sharing my passion for the Spanish language with your amazing children. My love for teaching—and for Spanish—started early. Growing up, I often translated for my parents. That experience taught me not only the importance of speaking my family’s language, but also the power of learning, teaching, and connecting across cultures. Over the years, Spanish became woven into every part of my life—at home, with friends, and throughout my studies. I’m a proud Chicago Public Schools alum, having attended CPS for elementary, middle, and high school. Along the way, I was fortunate to have incredible teachers who inspired and shaped me—and I hope to be that same positive influence for my students. After high school, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Education from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and later my Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish from the University of Illinois at Chicago. This is my sixth year teaching Spanish, and I still wake up every day excited to be in the classroom. For the past three years, I’ve called Irving Park home. I love connecting with the Bateman community—whether that’s in the hallways at school or bumping into familiar faces around the neighborhood. When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me listening to music, sipping coffee, making a Target run, spending time with friends and family, exploring new restaurants, traveling, or running. Last summer, I traveled to Portugal and Spain, and this summer I visited Mexico and ran my second half marathon! I can’t wait to get to know all of you better. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, ideas, or just to say hello. Let’s make this year amazing! ¡Vamos Bateman! |
