Classroom Info
I am so excited to be teaching Health and Physical Education at Bateman! I look forward to teaching our students about health, wellness, and physical education. My goal is for all students to develop an understanding of their bodies, how they work, and how to maintain an active lifestyle throughout life. In Physical Education, students will learn about setting and reaching individual goals, how to play as a team, improve physical strength and skills, and develop social skills. Health class will include instruction in the following areas: bullying, character education, body systems, personal health, nutrition, and sexual health education. More information will be available at a later date regarding mandated, sexual health education (K-12). All content is age and grade-level appropriate. Students are expected to model and follow the Blaze Ways by being safe, responsible and respectful at all times in order to create a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
PE class consists of an introduction to the unit and lesson, an exercise warm-up, skill instruction and practice, a game or culminating activity where students utilize the skills that were learned, and a closing discussion about the day's learning objectives. Health class follows this same general outline, except the skills are health concepts and the activities vary based on the topic (individual, small group, partner work, or whole-class activity).

A little about me...
I have been teaching Health and Physical Education for 18 years, all of which have been spent at Bateman. I have a variety of coaching experience in soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball at both the high school and elementary school level. In addition to coaching, I work with the FORGE After School Program, advise the National Junior Honor Society, serve as Bateman's Wellness Champion, and collaborate with other teachers on the ILT, PPC, and School Climate Team.
My hobbies include running (14 half marathons and 6 marathons), playing sports, weightlifting, reading, cooking, and traveling when possible. Soccer and hockey are my favorite sports! Let's Go Hawks!
