Mrs. SlotaSecond GradeI have been a teacher for 22 years. I began my career at Bateman and consider Bateman my second family. My years have been spent teaching everything from Kindergarten to third grade; the bulk of my years being in 2nd grade.
I began my college career, like many, confused with what I wanted to do with my life. I dabbled in computer science, accounting, and political science. When I finally took stock of my life, I realized I wanted to be a teacher. I had volunteered at the Chicago Park Districts, teaching kids swimming skills. I volunteered in high school as an English tutor. In college, I volunteered to tutor at a juvenile detention center to help incarcerated teens earn their GED. It was at this point, I noticed a pattern. I want to be a teacher. Now, I live in the Edison Park area of Chicago with my family. My 3 children are CPS students, and I can't be prouder of them. I teach in a public school and believe in public education. I look forward to improve and grow with every year. |
