Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), Nov. 14, 2019 Congratulations to all of the players who made it out to the first tournament of the school year at Brooks High School! Thank you to all of the parents for your patience with many of the issues that came up with the tournament operations, and your understanding that I felt obligated to step in to assist with the management of the tournament. It was difficult for me to be away from the team for most of the event, and I appreciate all of the parents who helped maintain the team room. We have a few changes to our schedule as a result of makeup days for the practices that were missed during the strike. Instead of having Free Chess Fridays, we will have four extra practices on the following Fridays: 11/22, 12/6, 12/13, and 12/20. These are now practice sessions, which means that attendance is expected on these days, instead of optional. These extra practices will be a great opportunity to get some more focused attention on strategies that will help students not only in chess, but also in life. Here are a few reminders about All-Stars activities and expectations for the rest of November and into December:
