We are proud to present Mr. Adam Geisler as April’s Teacher of the Month. His talent and dedication have been recognized by many! After graduating from Georgia State University in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Adam taught in south Atlanta for a year and a half. He then moved to Beijing, China with his wife, where they both taught English at Tsinghua University. After two years Adam and his wife moved to Chicago. After subbing for about a year in CPS, Adam joined the Bateman staff in 2006. Adam taught 6th grade for 8 years and currently teaches 5th grade. In Adam’s words, they are a “delightful group of students” and we are certain his students admire his commitment to their learning as well. In 2012, Adam was elected as the staff's CTU Delegate and continues to serve in this role. Around school, students mostly know Mr. Geisler for his gifted talent of playing, teaching, and coaching chess. He began Bateman's chess club 9 years ago. Bateman's chess team has qualified for the city playoffs each of the last 5 years. Every year, the team has improved, and the Bateman chess club continues to excel, bringing “home” more awards than we have room to showcase! This year’s club, in particular, has developed into one of the most competitive teams in the city. Please congratulate Mr. Geisler! We are so proud to have him on our Bateman team!
