Meet Bateman Elementary's December Teacher of the Month

Please join us in congratulating Mindy Doychich as Bateman Elementary’s December, 2015 Teacher of the Month. We asked Ms. Doychich to share her bio with us.  Please read below:

My name is Mindy Doychich and I am proud to be a teacher at Bateman Elementary School! It is my pleasure to work among some of the most talented and wonderful teachers and administrators in the profession.  I am excited to say that I have been teaching in Chicago Public Schools for thirteen years and have had the pleasure of teaching a variety of grade levels such as kindergarten, first, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth. Currently, I am a sixth grade, middle school, science teacher. Not only do I love teaching science but I love doing science in everyday life! Science is simply asking questions about the world around us. I believe that every person has a scientist inside of them wondering about the way things work.

It is my honor to serve the Bateman School community as a teacher representative of the Local School Council (LSC). In addition to serving on the LSC, I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues to make Bateman the best neighborhood school possible. As a member of the PPLC, ILT, MTSS Team, EL team, Science Committee, PBIS, Health and Wellness Team, I hope to be a leader and contributing member of the awesome Bateman Team.

When I'm not at school, you can find me playing with my son Jack, taking my dog, Brunch to the dog park, reading a new book, weightlifting, and cheering on the Michigan State Spartans or the Chicago Blackhawks. Above all else, spending time with my family and friends is my favorite thing to do any day of the week.

As a lifelong learner myself, I am a proud graduate of Michigan State University, go green!  I also attended  National Louis University where I completed a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership, Loyola University to complete an endorsement in teaching English Learners, and the University of Chicago, where I obtained an endorsement in adolescent studies and general science.  I love learning, and hope to continue my education whenever possible.
Congratulations, Mindy!  We are so proud to have you on our Bateman team!
