Meet Bateman Elementary's November Teacher of the Month It is with great esteem and appreciation that we announce the November, 2015 teacher of the month. Please read about this amazing teacher and congratulate her on this special recognition. Ms. Hurst is an amazing 4th grade teacher! She has taught at Bateman for a total of eight years. Throughout these eight years, she has been involved in a variety of leadership roles and committees, such as serving as the math teacher leader for grades 3-5, grade level leader for two grade levels, coach for the Bateman girls' volleyball and basketball teams, PPC and PPLC member, as well as being part of the UbD team that traveled to Connecticut to learn from the experts. She recently completed a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL endorsement from Concordia University- Chicago and is a loud and proud supporter of Purdue University, where she received her undergraduate degree in elementary education. Ms. Hurst believes in collaboration. She uses Class Dojo to communicate about her students' behavior. They earn points for following the Blaze Ways of being safe, responsible, and respectful. Ms. Hurst believes that parents should always be informed about their child's performance at school. According to Ms. Hurst, “I love teaching, because it allows me to to help students learn and grow, create critical thinkers and problem solvers, keeps me on my toes, and helps me learn a great deal, as well.” When not at Bateman, she enjoys spending time with friends exploring Chicago and all there is to do here. She enjoys being active, whether it's playing in a volleyball league or going for a run. Her family is small, but she is very close to them. She often travels to Michigan to see her parents or Cincinnati to visit her sister, brother-in-law, and adorable nephew, Jack. Comments are closed.
