Bateman is participating in the CPS Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Every student in the school will receive a sample of a fruit or a vegetable. The samples will be brought to the classrooms in small packages. This program will run for the remainder of the school year. Teachers may eat the samples as well to model healthy habits. Enjoy!
At Bateman we are conducting Data Deep Dive Meetings where teachers analyze data from students' performance and use it to inform their instruction. At these meetings the thinking is visible, the analysis evident, and the team planning is strategic! Great outcomes are emerging! Thank you teachers for the collective ownership!
Urban Initiatives ended it's second season of soccer at Bateman School in December with a banquet for players and their families followed by an awards ceremony. The Fall season ran a full 12 weeks with a start date on the second week of school! Bateman's 3rd and 4th grade students played four away games during the season: 1. New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL 2. North Country Day School in Winnetka, IL 3. North River Elementary (in our neighborhood!) 4. The Windy City Fieldhouse in Logan Square, IL. The Work to Play program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment, along with academic excellence, as the building blocks for a successful student athlete. Bateman School made Coach Ella proud in all of these areas and we look forward to another strong Spring season staring in March, 2016.
