We kicked off the grand opening of our new artificial turf soccer field with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! We want to thank 33rd Ward Alderman, Deb Mell, for helping make this, year long project, finally complete. We also want to thank Chicago Public Schools Chief Operation Officer, Arnie Rivera, for being part of the ribbon cutting ceremony and for all the hard work in making all this possible.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to all of our community members and parents for your patience and help during the installation process. Our Bateman students are excited and eager to play on our beautiful new soccer field! Kites were donated by Kites In The Sky, LLC and students from both Westmont High School and Newton Bateman Elementary colored them in.
Kites were then shipped to Uganda by Hope For the Day, an outreach program benefiting mental health awareness. A team in Uganda put them together at the refugee settlement. Pictures below show 3rd & 4th grade students creating art on kites & kids from the refugee settlement flying them! Take a look at the student created videos on 6 Word Memoirs! 307 310 304 314 |
