We want to thank all of the parent volunteers, Teacher & Staff volunteers, and the Parent Committees that made our annual "Father Daughter Dance" such a great success!
Bateman fathers and daughters danced the night away, lead by the energetic duo, from the iLead Program, DJ Nook EX & DJ Wes. The decorations were remarkable! Fathers and daughters dressed to impress and had a fun night of dancing, great food, and great memories in the Royal Ball Themed, Father Daughter Dance. We thank everyone for attending and a special thank you for the group of people that help put this event together! Join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 28th at 6:00 pm regarding the benefits of dual language programs and hear about Bateman School’s application for a dual language program at our school.

Healthy CPS is an initiative to support schools in aligning with the Chicago Public Schools health and wellness policies, which promote improved health and academic performance of all students.
This Month Bateman was highlighted in the "Champions For Healthy CPS" newsletter. Bateman students were recognized for analyzing food labels. Way to Go Bateman! Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) will be presenting an Immigration informational meeting this Friday March 24th, 2017 at 9:00am in the Bateman Auditorium. Congratulations to our Wellness Committee, recess staff, parents, teachers, and administration for promoting physical activity and physical education here at Bateman. Due to our collective efforts, Bateman received national recognition as a Let's Move! Active School! We are one of only 544 schools across the United States to receive this honor in 2016-2017. We strive to continue to promote a positive attitude towards physical activity. Active kids learn better!

This week, we kick-off our fundraising drive for the American Heart Association to raise awareness for heart health. All donations will benefit the American Heart Association. Students will receive more information in the coming days. Students can earn prizes based on the amount of donations they collect. Students will participate in jump rope activities during PE class the week of March 27th as a culminating event for this fundraising drive. We thank you for your time and support! Kindergarten Literacy Celebration
March 14, 2017 5:00-6:30 PM Bateman School Auditorium In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday in March, we would like to invite all families to bring their kindergarteners to a special literacy celebration! Thanks to support from Bateman Elementary PTA, we are able to celebrate with prizes and books for all and a few special raffles at the event! We will be raffling off a giant stuffed “Blaze Ways” dragon, two sets of Dr. Seuss books, and a new BICYCLE! Every kindergarten family that attends will receive a free raffle ticket! Childcare will be provided for kindergarten students At this event, all families are welcome to visit each kindergarten classroom and learn about easy and fun ways to help children explore and talk about books, write their own books, and play word games. Reading and writing are crucial skills to help your children be ready for their lifetime of learning.
