Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

Today is the final deadline to submit your intent to return for Quarter 3 Learning for each child that attends Bateman. If you have not done so already, please be sure to complete your intent to return survey to indicate whether your child will be returning for Hybrid Learning or continuing with Remote Learning for Quarter 3. This information is vital in order to adequately plan for a successful Quarter 3. We thank you in advance for your assistance in completing this survey and look forward to creating a robust and responsive plan for our school community.

Additionally, based on the feedback we received from our parents, students, and teachers, we will be hosting an additional Winter-themed CARE Day on Friday, December 18th. As before, all classes will be asynchronous beginning at 11:30am. Teachers will be sharing their exciting sessions in their weekly learning plan emails next Sunday.

Have a wonderful week ahead and #BeBateman!

Warmly,
Georgia & Kate

CPS Intent to Return Survey

Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

Last week, Chicago Public Schools announced their plans for Re-Opening for remote and hybrid learning beginning in January.  We know there have been quite a large number of surveys disseminated throughout this year and as parents, you have a tremendous decision to make for your child and family in a relatively short amount of time.

In an effort to understand the number of families committing to send their child for in-person learning or continue with remote learning, the district released a survey to the primary email address of each child’s Aspen account. The email’s subject line was “Will your child be returning for in-person learning this quarter?”.  This survey is to provide parents the opportunity to indicate their intent for their child to return to in-person learning or continue with remote learning. Please take the time to complete the survey. The earlier we receive responses, the sooner we will be able to put together that is responsive to the needs of our community.

As of this afternoon, only 38% of families have completed the CPS District generated survey. Surveys that are not completed by December 7th will default to Remote Learning for Quarter 3. It is critical that we have this information to provide clarity around the many lingering questions - without knowing how many students are returning, we are unable to create a cohesive and safe plan for our students and teachers.

**If you did not receive this email from CPS, please email the school at bateman@cps.edu by December 7th.**

To support you in this decision, the district has provided a presentation in English and Spanish with details regarding instructional minutes, sample schedules, and safety measures. Please visit the Parent Reopening guide in English and Spanish for further detail.

Finally, we will be hosting two community forums for those families who intend to return to in-person learning for Preschoolers on Wednesday, December 9th at 5:30pm and for K-8th Graders on Thursday, December 10th at 5:30pm. Please RSVP below to receive the link to join the respective virtual meetings.

We are here for each of our families to work in partnership through this next phase of the school year.

Thank you for all you do to #BeBatemanStrong!

Our best,
Ms. Davos & Ms. Kloepper

--------------------------

Sra. Davos y Sra. Kloepper

Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Now that we have spent some quality time with our families and are well rested, it’s time to remind everyone that learning will continue as before, which includes required attendance at all meets, participation in class, and completion of all work. We are in a festive time of year and have three weeks of uninterrupted learning time. This is a unique opportunity to focus on student grit, celebrate the festive time of year with the help of our Essentials Teachers, and check in with our online learning expectations.

The expectations below are a reminder of etiquette for online classes:

  • Identify a quiet workspace for your class and limit distractions, such as silencing your phone and turning off the television.

  • Check your surroundings. Make sure your background is appropriate for a school setting.

  • Be on time! Be logged into Google Meet and ready to begin class at the start of the period.

  • Mute your microphone unless asking a question, contributing to class discussion or making a presentation, or as otherwise directed by your teacher.

  • Video should remain “on” to promote focus, unless instructed by your teacher

It takes teamwork to make education a success and the support that we receive from our parents, students, teachers, and community is essential to make it work well. We recommend  all parents to stay active and involved with the education of their students. If you have not yet signed up for the parent portal, please contact Evelyn Rivera at elrivera@cps.edu.  Also, ask questions of your students when something appears to be wrong or out of character. Consult with teachers, counselors, and administration if there are issues that may be difficult to solve on your own. We are here to support your efforts with your children because we are #BatemanStrong!

We are very fortunate to have this community of families, learners and educators that come together here at Bateman.  Thank you for all that you have done this past year and for your continued support.

Warmly,
Georgia & Kate

Many high school programs have minimum eligibility requirements that students must meet in order to apply. Each program also has a selection process that determines how seats are filled. The Elementary and High School Guide provides a comprehensive listing of each high school program, the minimum eligibility requirements (if applicable) and the selection process. This is a great resource for planning which programs to select and rank. If you haven’t already, check out the Elementary and High School Guide using the links below.
