The Bateman Mile is one week away! This weekend is a great time to go out and get more pledges! All proceeds go to the Bateman Physical Education Program for more equipment! Go! Go! Go!

An Important Message From Bateman

Dear Bateman Families,

Our parent volunteers are a critical part of what we do here at Bateman and we want to be sure that we have many involved families! Please join us on September 25, 2018 at either 9 am or 5 pm for our Volunteer Orientation. Make sure to bring a valid issued photo I.D. with you!

Who needs to attend?

All parents interested in being a field trip chaperone
All parent volunteers
All parents wanting to help with after school

Why should I attend?

Fingerprinting will be available ON SITE
You will learn about the Bateman Volunteer Process

We hope to see all of our families here and eager to be involved! We cannot do this great work without the support from our entire community!

To submit an item for our twice-monthly Bateman Buzz, please send an email with the event details including date, time, and location. Any photos should be submitted in .JPEG format. Please submit by 5pm on Thursday and you might see it in the Bateman Buzz, Bateman Website, or on social media!

Message from the Principal

Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

We're in the full swing of things and have many great events coming up! One we'd love to highlight is the unveiling of the Dual Language Program at Bateman! Please join us a few minutes prior to Open House on Wednesday, September 19th at 5:00 pm in front of Door 1 on Richmond to truly kick-off our Dual Language classrooms! We hope you'll be able to come celebrate with us!

As the school year continues, please know that we at Bateman are always here to answer any questions or concerns you may have, listen to feedback, and welcome suggestions! We are here to be a partner with you and your family to ensure the best possible educational experience. If you need to speak with a staff member, we kindly ask that you make an appointment to see him or her outside of school hours or during the teacher's preparatory period as to not interrupt instructional time. We appreciate your understanding!

Bateman Spirit Wear Sale
Now - October 5th

It's that time of year again! Grab all of the Bateman Gear you can while the Spirit Wear sale is open! Don't forget to wear your Bateman Gear every Friday! Orders must be turned in by October 5th.

Bateman Open House
Wednesday, September 19th at 5:00 pm

Bateman Teachers and Staff invite you to the 2018-2019 Open House! Come tour your child's classroom, see all of the exciting learning taking place, and become more involved in the Bateman Community!

BAC/PAC Elections
Friday, September 21st at 8:30 am & 9:30 am

Join Bilingual Advisory Committee and the Parent Advisory Council as they have their elections to choose the executive boards for the 2018-2019 school year! All participants will have the opportunity to order a free t-shirt! See you there!

Volunteer Orientation
Wednesday, September 25th at 9:00 am OR 5:00 pm in the Library

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer or field trip chaperone at Bateman? All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation. If there are more than 10 hours of time spent in the school, volunteers are considered a Level 1 and are required to have an updated Fingerprinting and TB Test, per CPS Policy. We will be providing on site fingerprinting at BOTH sessions, courtesy of Accurate Biometrics! If you'd like to get a head start on the process, please visit the CPS Volunteer Program Page. Also, check out our new Volunteer Central in Room 118!

Dine to Donate for Bateman
Wednesday, September 26th at 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Please join the Bateman Boosters in a series of Dine to Donate events in our community! All restaurants have partnered with Bateman to fundraise for our school and the best part is, you have a night off from cooking! We hope to see all of our Bateman families at each Dine to Donate for Bateman event! Our first Dine to Donate for Bateman is at Potbelly's in Lincoln Square. Show them the image below!

School Tours
Last Friday of every month at 9:00 am

If you know of any future Bateman families or families interested in Bateman, please direct them to our School Tours page to learn more about scheduling a tour today! Tours occur on the last Friday of each month and provide a glimpse of classrooms, meet administration, and have questions answered!

4th Annual Bateman Mile
Friday, October 5th from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Our 4th Annual Bateman Mile Run/Walk will take place on Friday, October 5, from 10:30am-1:30pm at Bateman School. Please use this form to collect additional pledges from parents, guardians, family, and friends. Pledges do not have to be large amounts of money. Every dollar helps towards our goal of NEW PE EQUIPMENT!! Please fill out this form and return it, along with any pledges you received, in the attached envelope to your teacher by Wednesday, October 3rd! You can even win cool prizes - the more you raise, the more raffle tickets you earn! Check out this year's t-shirt designed by one of our very own 4th graders!

BOOOsterfest
Friday, October 26th from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Costume Parade, games, crafts, food, music, fun for all ages! Entry is $2 per person $5 per family.

Join the North River Commission and the Kedzie Center at North Park University in a neighborhood conversation on building empathy and safe communities. The discussion will feature Dr. Stan Sonu, recent Ted Talk speaker regarding Adverse Childhood Experiences. Find more information here!

Mosaic Albany Park Arts Festival
October 4th - October 7th

Join the North River Commission and the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce to celebrate and cherish the arts community of Albany Park, Irving Park, and North Park the weekend of October 4-7! Horner Park Farmers Market Kids' Day

We hope to see all of our families this Saturday at the Horner Park Farmers Market Kids’ day! Our students will be providing their recent Harvest for your selection! All donations will go towards the Bateman Learning Garden and Garden Clubs! #BeBateman

Bateman Partners with iPaintMyMind

This week, iPaintMyMind contributed a beautiful art installation in our building for this school year! IPaintMyMind is a nonprofit organization that supports schools with free art exhibitions. Bateman was one of 11 Chicago Public Schools to receive this opportunity showcasing work from two local Chicago artists, Missy Rosa and @SamKirk! Come check it out at Open House on September 19th and #BeBateman ! #iPaintMyMind

Thank you Bateman Boosters!

The Bateman gym received a make over due to the generosity of the Bateman Community at the Bateman Boosters' Spring Fling! The large space on the third floor holds two gym classes at the same time. Now, both classes will be able to occur simultaneously with less interruption to their physical education classes! Thank you Bateman Boosters!
