Message from Administration

Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Now that we have spent some quality time with our families and are well rested, it’s time to hit the ground running for the next three weeks of uninterrupted learning!  This is a unique opportunity to focus on student grit, celebrate the festive time of year, and check in with second quarter learning expectations.

In order to maximize our learning time, we need to make sure that all students are here on-time, everyday.  Please make sure all children are being dropped off prior to 8:15 as school begins promptly at that time. Kiss ‘n Go is available beginning at 8:05 each morning. Starting Wednesday, December 1st, we will be allowing children to go straight into the building as the temperatures decrease. Staff will be stationed both outside and inside to assist with the transition.

We look forward to a wonderful three weeks ahead!

Warmly,

Ms. Davos & Ms. Kloepper

Message from Administration

Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, we are reminded of the gratitude we hold for each member of the Bateman Family. Thanksgiving is a time to pause and spend time with those who are important to us; a time to bundle up and prepare for the colder months ahead; a time to connect and express sincere thanks to those who have impacted our lives.

As a Bateman Family, let’s encourage one another to pause and reflect. On Wednesday, November 17th is our Quarter 1 Report Card Pick Up Day. This is an instrumental time to pause and reflect on your child’s progress thus far in the school year. We are hopeful that all caretakers meet with your child’s teacher(s) to solidify communication methods, create plans of support, and celebrate the achievements in the first few months of school. Report Cards will be administered to all families who have selected virtual conferences on Thursday, November 18th and all in person conferences will take report cards home following your appointment time. If you have not scheduled an appointment time yet, please email your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

November is time to bundle up! Colder weather is definitely upon us and we cannot express the importance of preparing your child for the current temperatures. All students will be going outside for recess as far as weather permits to enjoy the fresh air and rejuvenate their brains for learning. If your family is in need of any assistance or if you know of anyone in need of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school - we are here to help in any way we can.

Additionally, we have noticed a great deal of traffic on the Sacramento side at arrival. We encourage you to utilize the Kiss ‘n Go on Richmond. All students who utilize this as an entry point will enter through the main doors and go to their doors through the school - they will not need to walk around the building as the weather gets colder.

And finally, a time to express gratitude. We are continuously grateful for each of our Bateman family members that make our school community thrive. If you would like to share your thankfulness for any of our staff members, give them a quick note of gratitude here!

As always, we are grateful for your continued partnership and wish all who celebrate a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Warmly,

Ms. Davos & Ms. Kloepper

Dear Bateman Families and Friends,

There are many things to celebrate with our entire community! First and foremost, for all who celebrate el Día de los Muertos, we wish you a wonderful day honoring those who have gone before you. Some of our students have created beautiful ofrendas in their classrooms. Please take a moment to look at them below!

A HUGE thank you to all of our families for attending BOOOsterfest on Saturday! We are filled with gratitude for all of the parent volunteers who made the event possible and a special thank you to Kjirstin Glessner and Monica Zilz for leading and coordinating the spooktacular day of fun!  The event further showed the strength of our community coming together - not a single face was without a smile!

Report Card Pick Up Update

As a friendly reminder, there is no student attendance on Wednesday, November 17th. Teachers are creating sign ups and will be emailing families to sign up for a designated time to discuss your child’s progress.

Promotion Policy Update

On September 22, 2021, the Board adopted a Resolution to the district’s Elementary Promotion Policy for the 21-22 school year. Under the resolution, promotion for students in benchmark grades 3, 6, and 8 will be determined based on the student’s academic performance as reflected in final grades in Reading and Mathematics and will not take into account any assessment scores. Students with final failing grades in Reading and/or Mathematics for both the 21-22 school year and the 20-21 school year will be required to successfully complete summer school to be promoted to the next grade level.  Hard copies of the 2021-2022 School/Parent Guide to the Elementary School Promotion Policy will be delivered to schools the week of November 8th to be distributed during Parent Teacher Conferences.
