All families with students who are in kindergarten to fifth grade are cordially invited to our literacy investigation day this Thursday November 2nd from 8:30 am to 9:15 am.  Our students will be demonstrating their literacy skills through activities and projects they have been working on.  Please enter through door 1, we hope to see you!

Nos gustaría invitar a todas las familias con alumnos de kínder a quinto grado a nuestro día de investigación de lectura este jueves 2 de noviembre de 8:30 a.m. a 9:15 a.m. Nuestros estudiantes demostrarán sus habilidades de lectura a través de actividades y proyectos en los que han estado trabajando. Halloween Celebrations October 31st, 2017
Only Kindergarten through 4th grade students can wear a Halloween costume to school on Tuesday, October 31st. All costumes must adhere to the following rules below. If a student comes with an inappropriate costume they will be sent to the office, and a parent/guardian will be called to bring a change of clothes.
Costumes cannot include any of the following:
 

• Masks
• Costumes must not demean any race, ethnicity, religion, nationality or handicapped condition, or gender
• Tails and/or capes that reach the floor
• Weapons (No guns, daggers, swords, or any other weapons)
• Full-face make-up
• Horror costumes that may be too gory, including fake blood
• Revealing clothing (no midriffs or miniskirts)

Students who decide not to wear costumes can still dress in either Halloween- or Fall-themed attire/colors.
HALLOWEEN PARADE (K-4 ONLY)
Kindergarten through 4th Grade will be participating in a Halloween Parade starting at 1:45 pm. After the Halloween Parade, all classrooms may start their classroom festivities. Parents are invited to watch the Halloween parade (at the North Office foyer).
PARTY FOOD/SNACKS
Please make sure any snacks you bring for your child’s classroom are in accordance with the Health and Wellness Policy. Classrooms may not celebrate Halloween with candy or other non-healthy food.

Celebración de Halloween 31 de Octubre, 2017
Solo los estudiantes de Kínder a 4to grado podrán disfrazarse para Halloween el martes, 31 de Octubre, 2017. Todos los disfraces tendrán que seguir las reglas notadas abajo. Si algún estudiante trae un disfraz inapropiado, serán mandados a la oficina y el padre/guardián será notificado para traer un cambio de ropa.
 
Los disfraces no pueden incluir ninguno de lo siguiente:

• Máscaras
• Disfraces no pueden ofender ninguna raza, etnicidad, religión, nacionalidad, representación de personas con discapacidad, o genero
• Colas o capa que lleguen hasta el piso
• Armas (No pistolas, daga, espadas, o cualquier otro tipo de armas)
• Maquillaje que cubra toda la cara
• Disfraces de horror que sean sangrientos
• Ropa reveladora (no minifaldas ni blusas cortas)

Estudiantes que decidan no disfrazarse podrán traer ropa que represente Halloween o los colores de otoño.
DESFILE DE HALLOWEEN (K-4 SOLAMENTE)
Kínder a 4to grado participaran en el desfile de Halloween que empezará a las 1:45pm. Después del desfile, todos los salones podrán empezar sus festividades. Los padres son invitados a ver el desfile al lado de la oficina del Norte.
COMIDA/MERIENDAS PARA LAS FIESTAS
Favor de asegurarse de que cualquier merienda/comida que vaya a traer para el salón de su hijo/a este de acorde con la Póliza De Salud y Bienestar de la escuela. Los salones no celebraran Halloween con dulces o comidas que no sean saludables.

Our students have been busy creating their one of a kind art work for the Square 1 Art Program. The Square 1 Art Program allows family members to order their child's art work on useful and personalized keepsakes. Bateman Elementary has partnered with Square 1 Art so every student feels like an accomplished artist while raising funds for our school. Please take a moment to look through their personalized catalog. Submit your order from the catalog in one of 3 easy ways: online, phone, or paper order. There is free shipping to the school if ordered by November 6th, 2017. However, you can still order gifts throughout the year. Today we held our Learning Garden Kickoff! This Learning Garden will be enjoyed by the whole school community--especially K-1st and 7-8th grades.  A long-term school wide project to engage our students in growing real food, we hope that this garden becomes an established part of teaching and school culture at Bateman.
Healthy eating and hands-on outdoor learning can have huge impacts on a child’s health and well-being throughout their lives. The Kitchen Community will be working with our Garden Team to grow a beautiful and productive garden as well as to provide teaching materials, gardening materials and training, and to highlight opportunities to learn. The Learning Garden Team will be reaching out to the whole school community with opportunities to participate.

We would like to thank all the families, neighbors, and community members who helped make this one of the most successful car washes ever!
