Our wonderful 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Phelps facilitated a meeting to inform parents and 7th grade students about the upcoming trip to Springfield. More than 30 families attended the meeting. Thank you parents for your support! Mas de 30 familias asistieron a esta reunión. Gracias padres por su apoyo! Great News! Bateman Science Club placed 3rd in the Demonstration division at the annual “You Be the Chemist”Competition. The attending members, Johana Aguilar, Krystal Martinez, Michelle Castelan, Cindy Bermeo, Jorge Moreno, and Alicia Moreno explained how polymer putty is made to judges, demonstrating their knowledge of chemistry. But, the most inspiring moment of the experience was when Krystal Martinez stepped in as a last-minute alternate competitor with Johana Aguilar in the Challenge division. Johana made it through three rounds before elimination, but Krystal lasted seven out of eight rounds! Bateman students performing so well, utilizing what they have learned in a competitive environment, made this day not only a great win but also a very inspirational moment. Great job Science Team! ¡Grandes noticias! El Club de Ciencias de Ciencias coloca 3º en la división de demostración de la competición anual "Se tu el Químico ". Los miembros que asistieron fueron Johana Aguilar , Krystal Martinez, Michelle Castelán, Cindy Bermeo, Jorge Moreno y Alicia Moreno quienes explicaron a los jueces cómo se hace la masilla polimérica, lo que demuestra su conocimiento de la química. El momento más inspirador de la experiencia fue cuando Krystal Martínez se unió como competidora alternativa de última hora a Johana Aguilar en la división “Reto”. Johana permaneció tres rondas antes de la eliminación y Krystal dio la batalla en siete de ocho rondas! This week some of our parent volunteers organized a wonderful celebration for Ms. Tammy to recognize her numerous contributions to Bateman school. Thank you Ms. Tammy, well deserved! This week, Loyola University’s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority hosted the “Reading is Fundamental” event at Bateman. Reading is Fundamental, also known as RIF, is Kappa Kappa Gamma’s national philanthropy, designed to help promote literacy and to making reading fun. Their chapter hosted this event at Bateman and among other fun activities, 300 books were donated to our students. The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma led this event targeting students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!
