We are pleased to announce that after much negotiation, a tentative compromise on education funding has been reached in Springfield. While we expect more details to be released in the coming days, we are encouraged that in this deal, Illinois is taking significant steps toward equity for all students, including in Chicago.
We need your help to encourage these lawmakers to cast their vote in favor of a final measure that will create an equitable funding formula for all Illinois students, and improve CPS’ long-term financial stability. However, one thing we know about Springfield is that nothing is done until the Governor signs the bill. We need to make sure the State Representatives and Senators that represent our schools hear from parents, teachers, administrators and community members about the importance of this funding. Please contact State Senator John Cullerton and State Rep. Ann Williams (please see info. below) and advocate for stabilizing the system and equal funding for all.
