Congratulations to Bateman's April Teacher of the Month! What an honor it is to be recognized as April’s Teacher of the Month! I am truly thankful to be a part of Bateman’s family and community. I knew since third grade that I wanted to become a teacher and have been blessed by educator role models growing up. In conjunction with amazing teachers in CPS, my dad was an educator in CPS and my grandpa was an educator in the South East Province of South Korea. I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and received my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education with an approval in Special Education. In my first year of teaching in a CPS school in Little Village, I also received certification in English as a Second Language. There, I taught in blended monolingual and bilingual preschool classrooms as well as K-1 self-contained as a Special Education Teacher for 4.5 years. Now, I am in my second year of teaching K-2 Diverse Learners here at Bateman! I believe every person is equipped with compassion for a certain age group, and my heart definitely is with the little ones. It is fascinating to see life from their perspective, and to take part in creating learning opportunities to cultivate their curious and creative characters. I absolutely love my teaching adventures, complete with wonderful students, staff, parents, and our community. Apart from teaching, I love traveling with my husband, playing board games, spending time with family and friends, and giving back to the communities that have helped me become me!
