On Saturday, February 6, the Bateman Chess Team played in the Greater Chicago Championships at McCormick Place. After about seven hours of competition, the K-6 Junior Varsity earned first place, while the K-3 Junior Varsity and K-6 Varsity squads both placed second in their sections. Seven Bateman players won individual prizes, including Andrey Novikov who got a perfect score in the K-3 section, and Zubair Ahmed who also went 5-0 in the K-6 JV section. It was a wonderful day for the team with tons of support from all of the parents. Great job, Bateman chess players! Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM)! That was evident today during the School Improvement Day at Bateman Elementary School. Our school Principal, Ms. Davos-Vetas in collaboration with teachers and staff utilized meaningful time to learn and reflect collectively about high-impact instructional practices.
