Bateman Chess Team Success! On Saturday, November 10, the Bateman chess team traveled all the way down to 111th st. to participate in the first Chicago Chess Foundation tournament of the year at Brooks High School. The 3rd/4th grade and 7th/8th grade groups both earned the second place team trophies! In the K-2 section, Kalen A. began his chess career with 3.5 points and finishing in the top 7 to win a trophy. Carl C. continued the success he had last year at Brooks, once again getting 3.5 and winning a trophy for his top 7 finish. The 7th/8th grade group was led by Cholpon N. who successfully made it into the top 7 for another trophy. And the winning ways were capped by Chris S. and his top 7 finish in the Intermediate section. Congratulations to all of the players whose parents schlepped them all the way to the Indiana border for this fun event. Let's hope we continue our winning ways in the other upcoming tournaments!
