On Saturday, Oct. 17, Bateman hosted a National Chess Day Invitational. About 100 players from six different schools came to play five rounds of intense chess. The Bateman team was able to claim one first place prize in the 5th-8th grade novice section, led by a first place individual honor by Jocelyn Santana. Trophies were also won by Andrey Novikov, Andrew and David Tebbe. This kicks off the 2017-2018 season. Let's hope we can continue our success!
