I am so excited to be Bateman's February Teacher of the Month! This is my second year on the 8th grade team at Bateman. Being a part of the Bateman community is an honor because the school is grounded in such strong core values.
I grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I am a total home body and cannot spend time away from my family, so I attended Loyola University Chicago for my undergraduate career. Here, I double majored in Secondary Education and English with an endorsement in ESL. During my last year at Loyola I had the pleasure of student teaching at Bateman, and I knew then that this was a community I wanted to join.
The last two years I have had the honor of being the 8th grade ELA teacher. I love teaching literacy because I think it serves as such an integral part in our lives. The best feeling in the world is seeing a student truly fall in love with a book!
Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my family. If I am not with them, I am either reading a book, eating, or spending time with my friends. I am looking forward to a wonderful second half of the school year!
NBGC will Remain Open Wednesday, January 30th
NBGC families and friends,
With CPS being closed tomorrow NBGC has decided to keep it’s doors open. We will be serving our community as we always have and will be here from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. All athletic programs will go on as scheduled. With temperatures reaching significantly low numbers we are asking for your cooperation in making this day run as smoothly as possible. We ask that you please email firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5:00 pm tonight if you will be dropping your child off. We want to make sure that we are appropriately staffed. With frigid temperatures come many variables outside of our control. Before leaving the house in the morning to brave the weather and drop off your kids please call the clubhouse at 773-463-4161 to make sure that the building is up and running. As always please make sure to send your child with a lunch.
Currently enrolled full-time after school families - $10
Non- after school families - $55 (financial aid available if needed)

Bateman Chess Success!
On Saturday, January 12, the Bateman chess team traveled to Whitney Young High School for a team-based tournament called CPS Kings and Queens. The 16 Bateman players were divided into three groups that competed round-by-round against other schools directly. After four challenging rounds, the K-6 group, led by Andrey N., earned a 2nd place trophy with three team points, and each player was awarded a medal. Congratulations to all participants! The team will have another competition this Saturday, January 19, at De La Salle Institute. Let’s continue our winning ways!
