![]() On Saturday, the Bateman chess team traveled to Rickover Naval Academy for the latest Youth Chess Foundation of Chicago tournament. It was the largest event in the organization's history with over 420 students from across the city. Bateman earned 2nd place in 3 of the sections: 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, and the Advanced group. Seven different Bateman students earned individual awards for top ten finishes in their sections. Congratulations to Ivan Suarez, Luke Rosado, Chris Salas, Aaron Andino, Umair Ahmed, Jim Nguyen, and Jana Zivanovic (who got 4 wins in 5 rounds in her first competition in the Advanced section!). The team is now ready for the city playoffs and state championships next month. Big thanks to all 29 players who made it to the tournament and the many supportive parents! Comments are closed.
