![]() On Saturday, March 19, the Bateman Chess team had its most successful performance to date at the CPS Championships. We fielded three teams and each of them earned the first place trophy. In the 3rd/4th grade section, Zubair Ahmed and Andrey Novikov finished in the top 5; in the 5th/6th grade section, Layla Rodriguez and Jim Nguyen were top 5 finishers; and in the 7th/8th grade group, 3 players were in the top 5: Ernest Rionaula, Umair Ahmed, and finishing first place overall, Esteban Taboada! It was a remarkable day, with victories over several gifted magnet schools and academic center programs. All players were in top form, and the parents were as supportive as ever, providing snacks and encouragement. Comments are closed.
