Quarter 2 Showcase Success

Thank you to all parents that came to celebrate our students' learning throughout Quarter 2! All grade levels showcased a topic of their own. What a huge success!  We look forward to more showcases in the future!

Kindergarten
Friendship Day Celebration!
Prior to showcase day, students created their own friendship tradition focusing on symbol, food, clothing and activities. During showcase day, students will present/ explain how their friendship day will be celebrated.

First Grade
All About Animal Expert Writing!
We are experts in nonfiction writing! Writers will be showcasing their All About informational texts on an animal of their choice. Their texts incorporate many non-fiction text features they have been studying in reading and writing workshops.

Second Grade
Problem Solvers in our Community!
How To Books about solving problems in our community! Come join our Alderman and help select a problem that needs solving - our 2nd grade writers have the solutions!

Third Grade
The Art of Informational Writing
How-To experiences that explain a step-by-step procedure on a topic, convey ideas and present information clearly! Come learn with us!

Fourth Grade
Weather Experts in Action!
Meteorologists will be sharing their hard work on the research they conducted on two different extreme weather topics! They will propose solutions to problems caused by natural disasters. Stop by to check out our inventions, storybooks, and newspaper front pages!

Fifth Grade
Explore 5th Grade!
Students will be showcasing their work in math, science, and social studies that will highlight their understanding of the concepts that were studied in the 2nd quarter including the following:
Math: In the Chef's Kitchen with Long Division; Science: Mixtures & Solutions; Social Studies: The Cultures of South and Central America

Sixth Grade
Big Ideas, Big Impact & Journeys of Transformation!
305 & 309 - Big Ideas, Big Impact: Instagram Stories of famous African-Americans that highlight their big idea and the events in their life that led to that "Big Idea"
304 - Journeys of Transformation: Personal Totem Poles that display animals and stories that represent our own journeys of transformation

Seventh Grade
6 Word Memoirs!
Seventh Graders have created 6 word memoirs that capture the essence of a special moment in their life!  Come check out the videos!

Eighth Grade
National Geographic Geo Challenge
8th Grade Scientists have been tackling The Problem of Plastic!  Come see their presentations focused on plastic problems in waterways globally!
